For me, kindness, compassion, and connection aren't just words; they're the foundation of how I run the cafe and live my life. I'm passionate about creating a space where everyone feels seen and valued, while also serving delicious espresso. In my free time, I enjoy live music, exploring the natural beauty around us, and the wonderful companionship of my three dogs and hairless cat. Mariah & Maddi
"Hi! We're Mariah and Maddi, the marketers behind the scenes and the ones who built and manage this website. Both born and raised in Wisconsin, we met at the University of St. Thomas (go Tommies!), where we also met Julie and Mike. We're big fans of country music, traveling, and finding cute coffee shops. Most of all we love sharing stories - whether it's through photos, conversations, or the little everyday moments that make life memorable. We're so glad you're here!"
Wade
Mike met Wade over 20 years ago in search of a log specialist to help resurrect an old cedar, hand hewn structure. What he found was a master craftsman, great friend, and a project partner for endless endeavors. Julie affectionately calls him the Wood Whisperer. He knows wood species and how to turn them into beautiful things at an artistry level. The Mercantile is his latest creation.
